Founded in 1962 as a "moonlighting project that got out of control" in the basement of Dave Schilling's home in Galion, Ohio, Schilling Graphics got its start by working on a Christmas card screen printing project with local high school students. Not only were the local students very talented, but Dave's abilities earned him a reputation for creating quality, creative screens. Soon, local businesses were relying on Dave Schilling to create screens for their businesses. Schilling Advertising was born.
Over the years, Schilling Graphics has thrived as an independent firm and wholly-owned subsidiary of three major corporations, the most recent being Ferro Corporation. Having regained independence in 2003, we continued to grow through acquisitions and mergers that have strengthened our position as the leading source for screen printing pre-press services, photo tooling and screen fabrication.
In 2000, Schilling Graphics acquired Concept 4 of Owatonna, Minnesota. Concept 4 was a leading provider of quality screens for architectural and automotive glass. Screens from Concept 4 have been used in noted U.S. and international buildings such as the award-winning Los Angeles Convention Center and the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas.
Schilling Graphics merged with Carter Screen Inc of Livonia, Michigan in 2004. Carter Screen, founded in 1961, helped pioneer automotive glass screen printing applications with the Ford Motor Company. By 2006, sites in Owatonna and Galion had both received ISO 9001/2000 and the last of its graphics business was shut down, directing the companies full focus to silk screen manufacturing.
In 2010, with the desire to diversify its business in silk screens and expand to more markets, Schilling Graphics purchased two small operations in California, forming the company's third active site. 2010 also saw the start of the final expansion to the Galion facility, building an all new production space, doubling the size of the current building.
With business continuing to expand and a fleet of new technology having been purchased, Schilling Graphics purchased a fourth plant in 2013, a second location in Galion. The new site has moved company storage and frame prep operations out of its main Galion facility, allowing the company more room for current operations and expansion room for business in the future.
Today, Schilling Graphics operates facilities in Minnesota, California, Washington, and is headquartered in Galion, Ohio, serving customers involved in all facets of screenprinting in the U.S. and the world. Our comprehensive online e-Catalog includes safety and protective products, product preparation and cleaning and maintenance supplies, as well as screen printing supplies and process control equipment.
